Types of Dental Implants
Endosteal Dental Implants
Endosteal, meaning “in the bone”, is a type of dental implant anchored directly in the jawbone to provide a stable foundation for crowns, bridges or dentures. These dental implants don’t require attachment to adjacent teeth or surgical procedures like bone grafts, which results in a quicker and more straightforward implant process.
Zygomatic Dental Implants
Unlike conventional implants that are anchored in the jawbone, zygomatic implants are anchored in the zygomatic bone (cheekbone). This innovative approach allows people with significant bone loss to be eligible for secure dental implants.
If you were previously told that you weren’t a candidate for dental implants, you may be able to receive advanced zygomatic dental implants!
Pterygoid Dental Implants
Like zygomatic implants, pterygoid dental implants are a solution designed for people with significant upper jawbone loss or unique issues like sinus problems. These implants are placed in the pterygoid bone, located behind the upper jaw.
Transnasal Dental Implants
Transnasal dental implants, sometimes referred to as “nasal implants,” are inserted through the nasal passage. This minimally-invasive approach can prevent the need for extensive oral surgery or bone grafting procedures before placement.
If you need dental implants in the upper jaw but have insufficient bone density or have medical conditions that make oral surgery challenging, transnasal dental implants may be ideal.
Transinus Dental Implants
Transinus dental implants are a special type of dental implant inserted through the sinus wall at an angle. Like transnasal implants, transinus implants are best when there’s not enough bone in the upper jaw (near the sinus), and in cases where complex surgery is not the ideal route.
Immediate Load Dental Implants
Immediate load dental implants, also known as ‘teeth in a day’ or ‘New Smile in a Day’, allow patients to receive all new prosthetic teeth in just one day! Patients who have good oral health and sufficient jawbone density and want to restore their smile quickly may be eligible for immediate load implants.
All-on-4 Dental Implants
All-on-4 dental implants provide a complete set of teeth using only four strategically positioned implants per arch. (Other types of implants can involve six to eight placements.) People who have lost many or all of their teeth and want an affordable, stable solution to restore their smile may benefit from All-on-4 implants.
